Flooding kills 7 of a family in Helmand

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Seven members of a family, including women and children, were killed when their house was swept away by gushing floodwaters in Kajaki district of southern Helmand province.

Information and Culture director Hafiz Abdul Bari Rashid told Pajhwok floods emerged in Baghani and KajAki districts yesterday afternoon following heavy rains.

He said the floods swept away a house in Kajaki district, leaving seven members of the same family dead.

He did not elaborate, but said security forces were trying to move to safety those trapped in floodwaters.

Since last one week, rains and floods had killed dozens of people in many provinces.
