Kandahar jihadi seminary’s teacher gunned down

KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): A teacher of a jihadi seminary in southern Kandahar province and also an official of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has been killed by unknown attackers, an official said on Friday.

IEA spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on his X page that a teacher of the jihadi seminary in Kandahar had been killed. He described the murder ‘a heinous crime.’

“We received the sad news that prominent scholar and Kandahar jihadi madrasa teacher Sheikhul Hadiths Mohammad Omar Jan Akhunzada has embraced martyrdom.”

He did not say how and where Akhunzada was murdered, but some sources said he was killed by unknown gunmen in Quetta city of Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
