TIRINKOT/ LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): At least six people, including children, have been killed and three others wounded in flash floods and roof collapse incident in central Uruzgan and southern Helmand provinces, officials said on Saturday.
Uruzgan Information and Culture Director Qari Agha Wali Qurashi told Pajhwok Afghan News three children were killed and two others wounded after the roof of their house collapsed in the Dehrawood district on Friday night.
He said a 35-year-old was swept away by a flash flood Saturday morning in the Balgh area of the provincial capital. He added the body of Gul Mohammad was yet to be found.
The number of injured and dead surged to 26 in rain-induced flash flood incidents in the province.
Meanwhile, Helmand Information and Culture Director Hafiz Abdul Bari Rashid told Pajhwok Afghan News two people were killed and one injured in a roof cave-in incident in the Greshk district overnight.
For the past week, rain related calamities killed and injured dozens of people in many provinces.
