Reconstruction work of 3 Logar schools begins

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The reconstruction work of three school buildings has started at the cost of 15 million afs in central Logar province, an official said on Saturday.

Education Department spokesman Shahpour Arab told Pajhwok Afghan News the reconstruction work would be carried out with the financial support of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in three months.

He said these schools were situated in the Mohammad Agha district and its reconstruction work will take three months.

He said: “Retaining walls, digging water walls, installing solar power, toilets, garbage bins and other necessary equipment for Hajiano, Bibi Amini and Suritiga primary schools were included in the project.”

He said the reconstruction will enable about 2,000 students to get education in a safe environment.

Haji Habibullah, an inhabitant of Mohammad Agha district, told Pajhwok he was happy that schools were being reconstructed in their area.

He asked the Ministry of Education (MoE) to reconstruct buildings for those schools that were damaged in conflicts.

Earlier, UNICEF had reconstruct buildings for 12 schools in Logar.
