KABUL (Pajhwok): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) says it has no hidden agenda in Afghanistan but wants to cooperate with Afghans and pave the way for interaction between Kabul and the international community.
An OIC delegation, headed by its Special Representative for Afghanistan Dr. Tariq Ali Bakheet met Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Maulvi Abdul Kabir on Sunday.
A statement from the Presidential Palace quoted Bakheet as saying: “OIC is committed to continued cooperation with and assistance to Afghanistan”
He announced the formation of a special OIC fund for Afghans and insisted the largest Muslim bloc did not have a secret agenda in Afghanistan.
The diplomat said the organisation remained committed to working for a positive engagement between the caretaker government and the global fraternity.
The envoy praised IEA efforts for combating and weakening the Islamic State (IS) — also known as Daesh — in Afghanistan.
He went on to urge neighbouring countries should talk out their concerns on certain issues with Afghanistan’s current rulers.
He also called for lifting restrictions on girls’ education and work while hailing the achievements of Afghan women in the economic sector.
For his part, the deputy premier emphasised on sustainable humanitarian assistance to Afghans. He hoped the OIC would play a positive role in boosting relations between Kabul and other countries.
IEA had destroyed Daesh, he said, adding the interim government would not allow anyone to use Afghanistan’s territory against a third country.
Kabir added the interim government desired positive ties with all countries, especially with Islamic states.
He called on Muslim countries to continually support the oppressed Palestinians in Gaza and prevent a similar tragedy unfolding in other parts of the Islamic world.
