TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): About 70 schools and religious seminaries have been damaged in recent rain-induced flash floods in central Uruzgan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Education Director Maulvi Shamsullah Kamran said the recent floods damaged 33 schools and 37 seminaries in addition to other welfare projects in the province.
The structures were damaged in Tirninkot city, the provincial capital, and districts.
He said they had urged the Ministry of Education (MoE) for their reconstruction.
Thousands of acres of agricultural lands, development projects and residential houses were destroyed in the recent flash floods in the province.
