KABUL (Pajhwok): The Contact Commission of the caretaker government has called on former government officials to return to the country and not to fall for “baseless propaganda”.

According to reports, supporters of the previous government, residing in Pakistan and Iran, could face threats on return to their homeland.

In a statement, the IEA Contact Commission urged all Afghan personalities and officials of the previous government to return to the country and enjoy the general amnesty announced by the caretaker government.

To implement the IEA supreme leader’s amnesty decree in the best possible manner, the commission has managed to convince 839 officials of the previous government into returning to the country.

The statement said: “No one has the right to harass anyone for working for the ex- government or pose a threat to them.

“We once again call on such personalities and ex-government officials (especially those living in neighbouring countries) to return to the country and not be duped by propaganda. Their life will be secure in Afghanistan, where they can live like other Afghans and play their role in the reconstruction of the country.”
