Uzbekistan delivers 160 tons of food items in aid

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Continuing its humanitarian assistance with Afghanistan, Uzbekistan has delivered 160 tons of food items to the Afghan authorities during a ceremony in northern Balkh province.

The handover ceremony in Hairatan port attended by by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Erkin Khamrayev, head of Surkhandarya Ulugbek Kosimov, Governor of Balkh Province Muhammad Yusuf Vafo and other official representatives of the two countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Kosimov said the aid included flour, cooking oil, meat, wheat and other food items.

The aid included 48 tons of flour, 48 tons of wheat, 15 tons of vegetable oil, more than 10,000 canned meat, 24 tons of sugar, 22 tons of pasta and 100,000 packages of instant noodles, the administration of Surkhandarya said.
