SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Over 225 women have been distributed work tools after the completion of their six months vocational training in northern Jawzjan province, an NGO official said on Tuesday.

Six months ago 227 women in Jawzjan province were enrolled in a vocational training course in sweat backing, sewing, beading, needlework, engraving and carpet weaving and today (Tuesday) these women received their certificates.

Eng. Amanullah Amin, head of the ACTED Organisation told Pajhwok Afghan News most of these 227 women were widows and vulnerable persons.

He added that today, in addition to the graduation certificate, the tools required for work according to their profession were also distributed to these women so that they can work in their homes or offices and become self-sufficient.

Eng. Amanullah said He says that vocational training and handicrafts was still continued by ACTED and more than 200 more women would be recruited for the next batch of training and the graduated trainees would continue to be supported by this office until they can work in their field and become completely self-sufficient.

Malalay, one of the graduated trainee, asked NGOs and international organisations to continue programmes of this nature so that widow and other vulnerable women could be employed and become self-sufficient.

She said: “We learned a lot in this six-month period, now we can prepare and sell our products with the tools provided by the office, in this way we can become self-sufficient.” Geta, one of the trainees, said: “Launching such programs to strengthen and support women has been very effective, women can become self-sufficient and create jobs after the training course.”

“Before joining this training, I did not know anything, during this time, I received training. I can take the customer's order and prepare it in a short time, we were taught business and provided us with tools so that we can work independently,” she added.
