MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): More than 400 acres of land has been purged of poppy crop during seven days of an ongoing campaign in northern Balkh province, police said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the police headquarters said anti-narcotics officials destroyed the banned crop on 419 acres of land in Chamtal, Alburz, Kishindi, Chaharbolak and Shogari districts.

“The campaign is ongoing in the country and poopy plantation will be prevented,” the police statement said, urging farmers to avoid growing poppy or face legal action.
