KABUL (Pajhwok): A delegation of Afghans based in European countries, who visited Kabul for 12 days, discussed with Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan officials a number of issues including girls’ education and the establishment of social system.

A report about the outcome of the delegation’s visit said IEA leaders agreed with the delegation in many areas and said they had taken some practical steps toward addressing them and assured more measures.

The report said: “National Campaign for girls education” was organised by a number of Afghan societies and institutions based in different European countries following repeated requests from members and citizens.

The delegation was asked to convey the wishes, requests, concerns and suggestions of their countrymen, especially Afghans living abroad, to the IEA leaders.

The report said for this purpose, a 12-member delegation from Britain, Germany, Austria, Sweden and Belgium, including two women, came to Kabul on April 15.

The delegation met with the prime minster and seven ministers, 15 officials of the Islamic Emirate, heads of business chambers, national investors and a number of important national, social and ethnic personalities and philanthropists and UNAMA officials..

The report said Islamic Emirate officials warmly welcomed and respected the delegation and listened to their discussions, criticism, and suggestions and shared their ideas and information with them.

The report said: “We want strengthened security across Afghanistan, save the country from powerful mafias, prevent corruption, drug cultivation, smuggling and use, and treat drug addicts. We welcome the start of a number of basic projects for monetary stability and domestic income and consider them worthy of appreciation”.

According to the report, the leadership of the Islamic Emirate should pay serious attention to following points so that the opportunities for peace, stability and development in Afghanistan are not lost again.

1-The gap between the people and the system should be removed and basic steps should be taken to build a social system. All the people of Afghanistan, whether they are from any tribe, direction or class, should see themselves in the system and feel ownership.

2-The experience that some groups and individuals tried to monopolize power and privileges in the name of jihad and resistance in the past three decades should not be repeated. It was the Afghan nation that defeated the invasions of the three superpowers with great courage and sacrifices in the past century. In our opinion, the whole nation is mujahid and the mujahidin are the children of the nation. This nation should not be divided in the name of mujahid and non-mujahid.

3- In the past 45 years, the nation has been disintegrated under different labels due to excessive military, intelligence, ideological and cultural invasions, there is a need for inclusive national reconciliation to achieve reliable peace and dialogue at the national level should be started to win hearts and promote unity in people, in the past wars the nation suffered in different forms and from different angles and now was the time that all should forgive and acknowledge each other’s.

4- For a durable and inclusive system the issue of acting government should be resolved, work on the mechanism of government legitimacy should be done and ways for true public representation should be explored, there could be the possibility of the creation of true Loya Jirga or another similar mechanism should be introduced, in addition, the legal vacuum should be filled and other rules should be made and endorsed, professional cadres should be given a chance of work in the future system.

5- More attention is needed to be paid to the issue of migration, social security, physical security and economic security conditions should be improved to the level that nobody thinks about migration but our migrant countrymen and women would also return to the country.

6- Full advantage from the professional Afghans living in foreign countries should be taken for the progress and development of the country and there is a need for the establishment of proper mechanisms with the Afghan Diaspora.

7- The most important point of our discussion was the opening of girls, schools, In our opinion, the ban on girls’ education is the main reason for the widespread dissatisfaction of the people, confrontation with the international community, widespread migrations and many other political, economic and social problems, and it may derail the available chance of peace stability in the country, we emphasized that if future generations of Afghans in the West lose their identity, culture and belief, the responsibility will be on the leaders of the previous regimes and the current government, In our opinion, it is not acceptable to close schools due to problems in the environment or curriculum, and if there is a serious problem in any part, the facts should be shared with the nation and help should be sought, we requested that not only the girls’ schools should be opened immediately, but special attention should be paid to the war-torn and backward areas that have been deprived of education for these forty-five years, and girls’ and boys’ schools should be built.

The report said there was discussion about the pension payment to elders, young and professional staff should be employed, women should be provided with workspace instead of charity and they should be reinstated to their jobs, female judges and prosecutors should be paid, and former military personnel should be recruited and brought back from the neighbouring countries.

The source said: “Generally, the leaders listened to our words very carefully and in most cases they not only agreed with us, but also assured us that they have taken some practical steps already and will take more steps as well. The leaders shared their ideas about solving the problems and also presented detailed information and facts and figures about the developments that have been made in the last two and a half years.”

On the issue of girls schools the officials made strong pledges that the issue would be addressed shortly.

The Jirga decided to expand this process and would continue their efforts until the basic demands of the people were not accepted.

The source said: “In our opinion, talking to our countrymen without any foreign agenda is the best way to solve problems. It is hoped that our expatriates will support and nationalize this process with their constructive ideas and suggestions.”
