KABUL (Pajhwok): Top Afghan and Iranian officials have held a meeting at the border point between the two countries and discuss strengthening bilateral traded ties and transit through Chabahar, a statement from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said on Thursday.
Acting Commerce Minister Nooruddin Aziz and his accompanying delegation met the Governor of Iran’s Sistan Balochistan Province and the Iranian President’s Special Envoy Sardar Mohammad Karmi.
During the meeting acing Afghan trade minister highlighted some problems faced by the trade between the two countries and stressed its resolution.
Amid strengthening transit Azizi highlighted some points such as transit issues including the necessary facilities, price reduction, finalization of the price of the specified land plots in Chabahar, determination of privileged and exclusive route for transit goods from Chabahar and vice versa, holding an information and awareness seminar about the transit privilege package from Chabahar route for the private sector Afghanistan raised the facilities and conveniences of the railroad on the Chabahar-Milk route, the removal of transit quarantine restrictions on the Chabahar route and others.
Karmi issued directives to relevant authorities regarding the resolution of existing problems, the statement said.
In the end, the two sides agreed that in order to achieve the development of trade between the two countries and to strengthen the transit through Chabahar, a joint technical committee will be established at the province level and the issues will be followed by the central committee.
