Samangan families bury12-year-old hatchet

AIBAK (Pajhwok): A 12-year-old feud between two families in northern Samangan province has come to an end – thanks to efforts by the Dispute Resolution Commission and tribal elders.

Director of information and Culture Maulvi Ferozuddin Munib told Pajhwok Afghan News the enmity between two families in the Shahikhel village of Aibak, the provincial capital, was resolved by the commission and mediators.

“The enmity happened between the families of Mullah Feroz and Haji Sur Gul following the killing of an individual from each side. But the hostilities ended as a result of mediation.” he added.

Faizullah, a tribal elder, told Pajhwok one Muslim should not be in enmity with another Muslim because disputes only brought misfortune and misery.

He said conflicts and disputes had only brought misfortune to the Afghans throughout history and put the lives of thousands of people at risk.

He urged the people to end their feuds through talks for the sake of amity and brotherhood.

Both families, thrilled to see their enmity coming to an end, promised to live peacefully and in an environment of brotherhood.

He praised the creation of the Dispute Resolution Commission and called for the continuation of efforts at ending feuds.
