BAMYAN (Pajhwok): One of the historical sites in central Bamyan province, Shashpul Caranvansry, will be rehabilitated in near future, officials said on Wednesday.
The caravansary’s repair project would cost $3.5 million, .Sabour Farzan Saighani, the spokesman for the governor, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said “Ferozkoh” organization’s head had promised during a meeting with the governor to fund the repairing of Shashpul Caravansary in near future.
He quoted the Ferozkoh director as saying that reconstruction works at the caravansary would be financed by The International Alliance for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in conflict areas (ALIPH).
According to him, the repairing work will commence in near future under the supervision of the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) and will be finished in five years.
Bamyan governor Maulvi Abdullah Sarhadi praised the activities of Ferozkoh organization and said complete security offered the chance for implementation of development and reconstruction projects in the country.
He said the local administration was trying to ensure that the employees and offices of institutions in Bamyan faced no security problems.
He urged other such organizations to come forward and repair historic sites in the country..
Archeologist Mohammad Azim Azimi believes that five more caravansaries dating back to the second century in Bamyan had destroyed and needed attention of relevant authorities.
