China gives $100,000 to ARCS for flood victims

KABUL (Pajhwok): Chinese embassy in Kabul has provided over $100,000 cash assistance to the Afghan Red Cross Society (ARCS) for the support of flood victims in the country, a statement said on Saturday.

Chinese Embassy on its X handle wrote: “The Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan handed over to the ARCS cash assistance of US$100,000 provided by the Red Cross Society of China to support Afghanistan in flood disaster relief work.”

During the handover ceremony of the cash assistance, deputy head of the ARCS said that recent flash floods inflicted losses on people nationwide and destroyed 32,000 agricultural lands in Helmand, Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces.

Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan Zhao Xing pledged that his country would provide support to Afghanistan in different areas and hoped for assistance for  ventricular Septal defect (VSD) patients in the future.

Last year, Chinese ambassador during a meeting with the Refugees and Repatriation Minister Khalil Rahman Haqqani pledged $998 million in aid for returnees.
