KABUL (Pajhwok): Head of the Afghanistan General Directorate of Physical Training and Sport Mawlavi Ahmadullah Waseeq stressed support to athletes at time when achievements of the national football and futsal teams were appreciated.
A ceremony in this regard was held which was attended by National Olympic Committee Director Maulvi Ahmadullah Wasiq, Deputy Director of the Football Federation Hafiz Ahmad Jan Zadran, ACB CEO Naseeb Khan, Deputy Information and Culture Minister Maulvi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Head of Kabul municipality for Cultural Affairs Wali Gull Jawad and the of Super Cola Company CEO Shahab Qanawizian.
In this program, the officials of National Olympic Committee and the Super Cola Company honored football coach Ashlee Westwood, ex-member of football team Islamuddin Amiri, and futsal team members Omid Faqiri and Farzad Mahmoodi with gifts.
Maulvi Ahmadullah Wasiq pointed out that many achievements and developments had been made in many fields of the country since the takeover of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA).
Wasiq said: “We try to praise and honor every athlete.”
IEA supported the sports sector spiritually and financially and its clear example was gifting cars to the medals winners of Asian Olympics hosted by China.
Amid encouraging athletes and ensuring desirable achievements for the country, Wasiq urged the traders and rich well-off personalities of the country to support sport institutions.
Wali Gull Jawad, deputy head of Kabul municipality for cultural affairs, said they witnessed great achievements at national level daily, adding that it was a principle internationally that different teams were supported by private sector.
Jawad hoped traders, investors, culturists and the sports sector of the country make simultaneous development.
For the first time in Afghanistan, the price of a can of X Bull energy drink was determined 2.3 million Afghan during an open bidding.
After the bidding, the energy drink selected in the form of a symbol was gifted by the leadership of Super Cola Company to the General Directorate of Physical.
At the end of this program, a competition was held between Afghan United and Kohdaman Academy futsal teams, Afghan United won the contest 1-0.
