ASADABAD (Pajhwok): The Education Department in central Kunar province says two schools that had been closed due to the past conflict have been reopened for students in Sarkano district.
Education Director Mohibullah Haidari told reporters the schools in Nawa and Kamar areas had been closed due to the past conflict and were reopened once again.
He said the conflicts and Pakistani shelling had displaced the residents of these areas, but now they had returned to their areas and their schools were reopened.
He said: “The middle school in Nawa and the primary school in Kamar areas were reopened after nine years.”
Inhabitants of Nawa and Kamar area were happy that peace has been restored and they have returned to their homes and the gates of their schools also reopened.
Hazratullah, a resident of Nawa area and a tribal elder, said: “Our area served as bunker of war, our children were deprived of education for nine years. Now we are happy to have returned to our homes and our children are provided with education.”
