KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Environment Protection Authority (ANEPA) on the occasion of World Migratory Bird Day says hunting, buying, selling, trading, possessing and transferring wildlife products and birds is prohibited in the country.
ANEPA said in a statement today (Saturday) on the occasion of World Bird Day that birds were important and fundamental component of ecosystems and the environment.
The statement added every country was obliged to provide suitable migration ground for birds.
"We ask all residents of the country to be diligent in the protection of birds and wild animals and avoid cruel hunting and illegal trade."
Earlier, Qari Zainul Abadin Abid, an official of ANEPA, told a press conference that animal hunting had become a tradition in the previous government.
He said hunting of all kinds of birds was banned in the country in compliance with order from the IEA.
The World Migratory Bird Day is celebrated on May 11 every year in all over the world.
