EX-lawmaker Allah Gul Mujahid held in murder case

KABUL (Pajhwok): Former Wolesi Jirga member Allah Gul Mujahid has been arrested in connection with a murder case in Kabul, an official said on Monday.

Police spokesman Khalid Zadran told Pajhwok Afghan News Mujahid had been detained in the case of Qari Saeedullah, who had been killed three months ago.

He said: "Available documents, evidence and investigations into the case require restrictions on his freedom. Thus it was decided to keep him in custody until the completion of investigations and court’s verdict."

In 2021, security forces had captured Mujahid in his native area. After his release, based on unofficial reports, he left for Turkey before going to Iran.

The ex-legislator had returned to the country on June 25, 2023 through the caretaker government’s reconciliation commission.
