KABUL (Pajhwok): An international exhibition of industrial products kicked off n capital Kabul on Sunday, marking the launch of ‘Industry Week’ titled “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) supports domestic products”.
The exhibition commenced in Kabul in the presence of a number of IEA officials, traders and industrialists.
The week-long exhibition is aimed at finding market for domestic products, propagating industrialization and encouraging the countrymen to use domestic products.
Deputy PM for administrative affairs Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi, who attended the inaugural ceremony, said the development of industry was crucial in every country and such exhibitions played a vital role in that direction.
Hanafi emphasized that the government of the IEA supported domestic industry by all means.
Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) director Mullah Hidayatullah Badri said that the ground for investment had been paved in the country than any other time.
A number of IEA officials pointed to the increased exports following the caretaker government’s takeover.
Deputy Minister of Economy Abdul Latif Nazari said it was thought that Afghanistan's economy would collapse with the IEA return, but it did not happen and instead a remarkable progress was made in the economic sector.
Nazari also pointed to the stability of the national currency, increased exports and attraction of investment to the country and said it played positive role in the development of the country’s economy.
Industry and Commerce Minister Nooruddin Aziz said since 2021 the country’s exports had significantly increased: “The Ministry of Commercen and Industry has so far issued about 2,000 licenses for factories, half of them new licenses.”
Deputy head of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) Younus Mohmand said right now no obstacles existed in the export and import sector of Afghanistan with all countries of the world.
A number of participants, who have rented booths in the exhibition, stressed that similar events should be arranged for the development of the industry and economy of the country.
One of them Alauddin Bahaduri proposed the arrangement of such exhibitions across the country.
Tamim Amiri asked people to use domestic products.
The exhibition encompasses about 800 booths, with 200 belonging to woman entrepreneurs and 15 booths to Iranian industrialists.
