KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs Maulvi Noor Mohammad Saqib has met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of a consultative meeting of Muslim scholars in Istanbul.
Zabihullah Mujahid, chief spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), wrote on X Saqib appreciated the Turkish president for organising the meeting.
He said: “IEA desires cordial ties with Turkey, as indeed the entire Islamic world. It believes Turkey could play a vital role in resolving the problems of the Muslim Ummah.”
For his part, Erdogan hailed the current security situation in Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs (MoHRA) also confirmed the meeting between Saqib and Erdogan.
