KABUL (Pajhwok): The Contact Commission with Afghan Personalities (CCAP) on Tuesday said it was fully committed to upholding promises with Afghan personalities, clarifying that Allah Gul Mujahid has not been arrested for his role in the past government, but in connection with a murder case.
The Kabul Police headquarters had previously clarified that Allah Gul Mujahid, a former member of the Wolesi Jirga in the previous government, was arrested in a fresh murder case, not for his past activities
Soon after the IEA takeover, Allah Gul Mujahid) was arrested in Kabul, but then released and he left the country for Iran and then for Turkey. He then returned to the country after being persuaded by CCAP in July 2023.
According to reports, on May 12 the Kabul police said Mujahid was arrested in connection with the murder of Qari Saeedullah. Saeedullah, who was killed on February 28, 2024.
The CCAP office wrote on its X page on Tuesday that Allah Gul Mujahid was held in connection with the murder case of Qari Saeedullah.
CCAP said: “Qari Saeedullah was martyred on February 28 2024 in Sarobi district of Kabul Province. His alleged arrested murderers claimed they killed Qari for money paid to them by Allah Gul Mujahid and this case is under investigation for a fair trial in the courts of the IEA.”
The commission said Mujahid had not been arrested for his activities during the previous governments.
CCAP further explained: “As Allah Gul Mujahid returned to the country due to his contact with the commission, it clarifies that CCAP is fully committed to the general amnesty announced by the supreme leader of the IEA.”
