SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Residents of northern Jawzjan province have donated 5.5 acres of land for construction of schools last year, an official said on Wednesday.
Education Director Mohammad Tahir Jawad told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Residents of the province have always been supportive of the department and donated land for school buildings.”
He said the residents devoted 5.5 acres of land for construction of schools during the past one year.
While requesting people’s cooperation, he said: “About 120 schools are without buildings in the province and we are trying to construct buildings for them in cooperation with local people and partner institutions.”
He asked the residents to cooperate with the education department in construction of schools and improving the education system.
Basir, a resident of Shiberghan, who has donated one acre of land for a school building, said: “I am very happy that children of our area will study in a safe environment after the completion of this school building.”
He called suitable learning environment essential for children and added: “When I saw that many children have no proper place to study, then I decided to donate one acres of my personal land for the construction of the school.”
