LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A 10-year-old girl was killed and a boy injured on Thursday as a result of a blast caused by an old mortar shell in southern Helmand province, an official said.
Governor’s spokesman Maulvi Mohammad Qasim Riyaz told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened this morning in Abdul Rahman Karez area of Musa Qala district.
He said the children had found the device while grazing cattle in a pasture.
The injured boy was said to be in stable condition, he said.
