BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Some routes connecting central Bamyan to other provinces have been blocked by recent floods, an official said on Sunday.
Public Works Director Eng. Hafizullah Niamati told Pajhwok Afghan News a number of highways between Bamyan and other provinces had been closed temporarily and damaged by the recent flooding.
According to Niamati, Bamyan has no road links to Baghlan and -Sar-i-Pul, Yakawlang since Wednesday’s heavy floods.
Public Works Department’s machinery could not open the highways due to continuous flooding, the official explained.
The issue has been shared with higher-ups and efforts are underway to reopen the highways for traffic.
The heavy rainfall and flooding caused no causalities in the province, whose residents had suffered financial losses, he concluded.
