KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qatar for the treatment for 169 children with congenital heart defects (CHDs).

On its X page, ARCS wrote the MoU was inked between Director of Relief & International Development Division at Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) Dr Mohamed Salah Ibrahim and ARCS head Maulvi Matiullah Khalis.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Maulvi Khalis praised continued support from Qatar.

He said over the past two years, ARCS had introduced about 3,094 children suffering from CHDs to various hospitals for treatment in the country. But thousands of such children are still waiting for treatment.

Earlier, ARCS had referred 40 children suffering from heart defects to four hospitals in Kabul for treatment.
