MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The first shipment of Turkey’s humanitarian aid for flood-affected people in Baghlan province has arrived in Mazar-i-Sharif, capital of northern Balkh province.
The governor’s house said in a statement the food and non-food aid from Turkey arrived at Maulana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi Airport on Saturday and was handed over to Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan officials.
It said the assistance included seven tonnes of medicine, 15 tonnes of food and 2,000 blankets.
A committee has been formed by the Balkh governor for delivering the assistance to Baghlan flood-hit individuals.
Recent flash floods have killed 315 individuals and injured 1,630 others in Baghlan.
