5 killed, 13 wounded as bus crashes into Baghlan home

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Five people were killed and 13 others were injured when a passenger bus crashed into a house in northern Baghlan province, the Traffic Department said on Monday.

Head of Traffic Department Qari Nazir Abedi told Pajhwok Afghan News a 580 passenger bus crashed into a house after hitting a newly-constructed sidewall of the road. The dead and injured included women and children.

He said four member of a family including parents and their two daughters and the bus cleaner lost their lives and 12 passengers and the bus driver were wounded.

Sher Mohammad, a resident, said the house belonged to a technical engineer who had a workshop on the Kabul-Mazar-i-Sharif highway.

According to Abedi, the injured people have been evacuated to Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif cities for treatment.

Last night, five people were killed in a traffic accident in eastern Laghman province.
