PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): More than a dozen schools that have been destroyed due to the past wars and recent floods will be constructed in central Logar province, an official said on Wednesday.
Logar Education Department spokesman Shahpur Arab told Pajhwok the Ministry of Education was reconstructing the 13 schools destroyed in natural disasters and wars in Pul-i-Alam and some districts of the province.
He said a survey in this regard had officially been started and would be completed within a week and the reconstruction works would start as soon as the survey was completed.
He also said MoE would pay the cost with the help of a number of international institutions. Besides these schools, around 60 other schools in Pul-i-Alam and districts also need reconstruction.
Rahmatullah, a social activist in Pul-i-Alam, told Pajhwok many schools had been destroyed in the center and districts due to the past wars and seriously needed reconstruction.
He said the war-damaged school buildings had a negative effect on students and the teaching process.
In Logar, around 70 schools have no buildings and their students attend classes under the open skies amid lack of basic facilities.
