KABUL (Pajhwok): The World Food Program says it supported nearly 20,000 floods-affected people in Afghanistan with food assistance.
The program wrote on its X page that the floods had destroyed roads and bridges in the affected areas, making it difficult for the WFP to deliver aid.
“We are working hard to reach communities in need and have already supported nearly 20,000 flood affected people with food assistance.”
In the last two weeks, floods triggered by heavy rains caused heavy financial and life losses in different provinces of the country.
Three days ago, Ministry of Disaster Management spokesman Mohammad Abdullah Jan Saiq told a press conference that 294 people died due to floods in 14 provinces and 266 others were injured.
