KABUL (Pajhwok): A charitable foundation on Saturday launched a five-day free treatment program for eye patients in the capital Kabul, an official said.
Mawlavi Abdul Latif Sabit, the operation secretary general of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, told a gathering that this program was conducted with the financial support of Malak Salman Foundation by the Khair Al Basar Foundations’ physicians.
Fakhruddin, in charge of the Khair Al Basar Foundation, said: “It was a moment of happiness that our team had arrived in Afghanistan and treated eye patients; we have a good relationship with Afghans.”
He said during five-day program around 10,000 eye patients would undergo free checkups, operations and glasses distribution in Kabul and Herat provinces.
Patients suffering from eye problems were happy about the free treatment facility.
Haji Tawous, 63, a resident of Paghman province, said it was a good program to provide free treatment to patients.
He referred to the facility with his three-year-old grandson who suffered from eye problem.
Ghulam Sarwar, 45, said: “Additional flash emerged in my eye three years ago, I came here to see what the doctor say.”
He also welcomed these types of programs and demanded more similar programs to be held.
It is worth mentioning that a similar program is underway in Herat province from May 25 to 30.
