KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 21 people have been killed, 19 others wounded, and 840 houses damaged due to flash floods in seven provinces of the country in the last two days, says the State Ministry for Natural Disasters Management.
Mullah Jan Saiq, a spokesman for this ministry, said in a video clip that flash floods swept through Badakhshan, Baghlan, Bamyan, Samangan, Takhar, Faryab and Nangarhar provinces in the past two days.
He said 21 people lost their lives, 19 others were wounded, and 840 houses were partially damaged or completely destroyed in the disaster.
The floods also killed 50 animals and washed away crops on 441 acres of land, he added.
Saiq said the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was committed to reconstructing houses and providing emergency assistance to the flood-hit people.
He said his ministry had distributed food, non-food and cash aid to 50,000 flood-affected families in cooperation with partner organizations during the past three months and the process was still underway.
