JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Tens of acres of the Electricity Department land has been recovered from usurpation in Jalalabad City, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.

Mawlavi Mohammad Walli Muhsan, head of the Usurpation Prevention Technical Committee head, said 219 parking, hotels and shops were built on 60 acres of state land. Hotels and shops would be re-rented according to the law.

“Individuals working here agreed that they will take the land on contract from the Electricity Department based on the department’s principles,” he said

It is worth mentioning that 18 years ago the then Governor Gul Agha Sherzai named this place as the Zwanano Park in entertainment parks and other facilities were built. Many people were also provided with work opportunities.
