KABUL (Pajhwok): Moscow plans to step up cooperation with Kabul in combating the scourge of global terrorism, says a top Russian diplomat.
Russia’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov said his country intended to strengthen the capacity of Afghan law enforcement agencies.
In an interview, the envoy said Russia wanted the Afghan law-enforcement personnel to be more successful in vanquishing international terrorist groups.
He told the Rossiy-24 TV channel the interim Afghan authorities were doing all they could to suppress Islamic State. “And they have achieved much.”
The caretaker Afghan government had confirmed its participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), he said.
The IEA acting minister of labour and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief would attend the economic forum, scheduled for June 5-8, Kabulov concluded.
