ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Nearly two tonnes of different types of narcotic have been set alight and 150 suspects arrested during the past six months in northwestern Nimroz province, an official said on Tuesday.
Anti-narcotics director Abdul Wasi Raihan said security forces seized 1,888kg of various drugs including crystal meth, heroin, opium, marijuana, IF, K tablets and Tramadol and 5,190 liters of acid in different parts of the province.
He said the narcotics seized were torched in the presence of the governor and other officials.
On the other hand, Prosecutor’s Office head Sheikh Abdul Khaliq Mohammadi said about 150 people had been arrested over drugs smuggling charges and handed over to judicial bodies.
“These 150 suspects have been arrested on the charges of smuggling drugs and imprisoned on the order of Prime Minister and court’s ruling,” he added.
Governor Shaikh Mohammad Qasim Khalid told the ceremony: “The local administration is committing to fighting drugs”.
