3 killed, 21 wounded in Kandahar collision

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): At least three people have been killed and 21 others wounded in a traffic accident in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Saturday.

Police spokesman Mullah Asadullah Jamshid told Pajhwok Afghan News the accident took place on the Kandahar-Herat highway in the limits of Maiwand district on Friday when a three-wheeler crashed into a truck.

He said three lost their lives and 21 others mostly children sustained injuries in the collision.

He added the injured had been evacuated to Kandahar’s Mirwais Hospital.

He had no further details about the mishap, but such incidents often occur due reckless driving on substandard roads.

About ten people were killed and injured in a similar mishap in northern Balkh province on Friday.
