FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): The Ghor-Herat highway has reopened for traffic, an official announced on Saturday.
However, some residents claimed a number of roads, linking Ferozkoh, the Ghor capital, with districts remained closed.
Ghor Public Works Director Maulvi Abu Shoaib told Pajhwok Afghan News: “The highway gad been closed due to recent flash floods in Ghok Kamanj area and reopened late on Friday.”
He said his department was trying to reopen all transit routes in the province with the cooperation of local administration officials.
Recently, flash floods had swept through the province, causing life and financial losses to the people. Many routes, linking districts with Ferozkoh, were closed.
Aminullah, an inhabitant of Marghab district, told Pajhwok the recent flash floods had shut the district road in addition to life and financial losses.
He said the road, linking the district with the provincial capital, has been closed for the last 25 days.
He added: “People do not have food. If the government does not pay attention to the reopening of the road, we may starve to death.”
