KABUL (Pajhwok): The Energy Ministry in Bishkek says Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan want to export electricity to Pakistan next year as part of the CASA-1000 project.
The CASA-100 power extension programme is a $1.2 billion project for the export of power generated in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan through Afghanistan and work on it is nearly complete in the three countries.
According to a report in The Times of Central Asia, the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan has presented a project for developing the country’s National Energy Programme until 2035.
The ministry of energy forecasts around 1.25 billion kilowatt-hours of summertime electricity will be exported to South Asia in 2025.
At the beginning of this year, Kyrgyzstan signed a joint declaration with Pakistan and Tajikistan on resuming the CASA-1000 project, the Times of Central Asia added.
Earlier, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) said work on the CASA-1000 project in Afghanistan was set to resume after a two-year delay with financial support from the World Bank.
