Kam Air starts flights to Dubai from Khost City

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): After Aryana Afghan Airlines (AAA), Kam Air, a private air carrier, has also started direct Khost City-Dubai flights.

The first flight took off from Khost City, the capital of southeastern Khost province, today (Sunday) with 103 passengers on board to Dubai, UAE.

According to the officials, Kam Air will conduct two flights weekly --- Sunday and Thursday --- to Khost City-Dubai destination.

The passengers hailed this development. Faridullah, one of the passengers, told Pajhwok Afghan News that in the past much of their time was wasted because first they had to travel to Kabul to get flight for Dubai.

He said: “It is my first direct flight from Khost to the UAE  and in the past we needed to take four-hour of extra trip from Khost to Kabul but now we can travel from this city to the UAE after a half hour of trip.”

Some other passengers, however, demanded continued flights on this route and said it must not be only a symbolic development.

Mohammada Gull, another passenger said: “It would be very nice that Khhost-UAE direct flights continue, if it is the only symbolic flight, the people will be upset, we want continuous flights.”

Khan Jan Alokozay, deputy head of the Afghanistan Chambers of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) described the flights of Ariana Afghan and Kam Air airlines very effective from an economic point of view.

Alokozay told Pajhwok, the businessmen would have the facility to send their commercial goods to international markets especially the pine nuts from Khost airport.

He added: “If we want to use such flights for cargo purposes, the businessmen would be in need to talk to the officials of airlines where we would be able to send up to 20,000 tonnes of pine nuts to other countries and we may need some more facilities which are still not provided in Khost airport.”

Haji Bahram, the director of Khost airport said all of the facilities have been provided for the passengers who use the airport.

Bahram expressed pleasure about the development and said the flights would continue. It is worth mentioning that the Ariana Afghan Airline launched its flights before the Kam Air airline.
