KABUL (Pajhwok): A polio vaccination campaign, targeting more than 11 million children under five years of age, was launched across the country on Monday.
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) wrote on X it was launching the multiple-day anti-polio drive with support from international organisations.
The campaign will cover 11.2 million children under the age of five. Public Health Minister Noor Jalal Jalali said the ministry along with its partners remained committed to eliminating the crippling disease.
Jalali added: “We are trying to continue with the polio vaccination campaign and other health services in order to reach the goal of banishing this disease.”
According to the ministry, five positive polio cases were recorded in Afghanistan last year.
