MoEW predicts flash floods, rise in rivers’ water level

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Energy and Water (MoEW) has predicted relatively heavy rains, flash floods and rising water level in rivers over the next two days and asked residents to be alert.

MoEW in a statement said “today and tomorrow, relatively heavy rain with flash floods and rising water levels are expected in some areas of the country and flooding in Panj Amo and Kabul river zones.

The ministry wrote: “Heavy rains may unleash floods in Kabul and Helmand regions amid snow melting in Badakhshan, Taloqan, Baghlan, Panjsher, Ghorband, Kunar, Laghman, Khost and Paktika provinces.”

The MoEW asked residents of the mentioned areas to stay away from rivers and to inform residents of downstream areas about flooded rivers in order to prevent human casualties.
