KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani during a visit to the United Arab Emirate (UAE) discussed strengthening bilateral relationships and support in different areas including health, infrastructure, investment and security, a statement said on Wednesday.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) spokesperson, on his x.com handler, wrote: “Honorable Minister of Interior Affairs, Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, who has traveled to the United Arab Emirates, has engaged in discussions and reached decisions with the UAE officials.”
He said strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations and soliciting cooperation from the UAE in the healthcare and infrastructure sectors for the security entities of the IEA, were discussed during the meeting.
Mujahid added a decision was also reached securing the release of Afghan prisoners in the UAE, an agreement that has been reached facilitating the issuance of visas to Afghans by the UAE, with a commitment to establish a mechanism for this purpose shortly.
UAE pledged the digitalization of the traffic management system and ensured support for maintaining the current security and stability in Afghanistan, with efforts focused on regional stability, he said.
Mujahid added that the UAE government pledged participation in the reconstruction of Afghanistan and the engagement of UAE companies in investment initiatives in Afghanistan.
