KABUL (Pajhwok): The afghani surged against the US dollar during the outgoing week that saw the prices of petrol, liquefied gas, Kazakh flour, cooking oil and gold falling in Kabul, market source said Saturday.
Afghani vs dollar
Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchange Service, said one US dollar was traded at 70.40afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees consumed 250afs.
Last week, one US dollar was accounted for 71.30afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 250afs.
Food items
Zmarai Safi, head of the Food Traders’ Association, said the rate of a 49-kilogram sack of Indian sugar dropped form 3,000afs to 2,950afs, the price of a 49-kilogram sack of Kazakhstani flour from 1,550afs to 1,500afs and 16 liters tin of Malaysian cooking oil from 1,420afs to 1,400afs.
But the rate of a 24-kilogarm bag of Pakistani rice was sold for 2,600afs, a kilogram of African black tea for 400afs and the same amount of Indonesian green tea for 350afs, the same rates as last week’s.
Hamid Sufizada, a retailer at Dahna-i-Bagh Market, put the retail price of a 49-kilogram bag of Kazakh flour at 1,550afs, a 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice at 2,650afs and a 49-kg sack of Indian sugar at 3,050afs.
A 16-litre bottle of cooking oil accounted for 1,450afs, one kilogram of black tea for 400afs and the same quantity of green tea for 450afs, he added.
Fuel prices
A worker at the Ahmadyar pump stations, told Pajhwok Afghan News one litre of petrol recorded a two aghhanis decrease in its price from 62afs to 60afs and the price of diesel stayed stable at 58afs.
Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta neighborhood, said the price of a kilogram of the commodity fell from 48afs to 46afs.
Gold prices also drop
Mohammad Fawad, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold decreased from 4,400afs to 4,300afs and the same amount of the Russian variety from 3,500afs to 3,400afs.
