HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A three-day exhibition of locally produced products has kicked off in western Herat province amid at creation of more facilities for local businessmen and entrepreneurs.
The exhibition titled ‘The Best product Afghan Products’ was launched on Saturday afternoon at a local Hall, the inaugural event was attended by government officials, traders, vendors and common people.
The director of International Trade Department in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC) Mohammad Zubair Dinparast said during the opening ceremony that the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) especially the MoIC was committed to provide the most possible facilities across the countries for businessmen.
According to Dinparast, during the current year, multiple exhibitions were held in and outside of the country for the promotion of domestic products both on domestic and international level, six of them were held on international level while the rest of them were held inside the country.
He clarified punching high tariffs on imported identical products could help the national producers.
Hameedullah Khadem, head of the Herat Chamber of Industry and Mines, said the exhibition was divided into two sections for female and male entrepreneurs and it would be open for two more days.
There were over 100 entrepreneurs and participants in the exhibition who displayed different agricultural, health, precious stones, electronics and many more products.
Some businessmen said the convention of such exhibition was a proper step for displaying their products and introducing them to more new consumers.
One of them, Ahmad Shah Azad said such fairs had a tremendous impact on the introduction of the displayed commercial goods into other markets.
He further sought the assistance and support of the government to pave the way for their products into international markets. He believed such support could stop the escape of capital from the country into foreign markets.
There are the total of 310 booths in the exhibition, 65 of them belong to men while the remaining 55 of them belong to female entrepreneurs, traders and businessmen for displaying their goods. The entrepreneurs and businessmen came from Herat, Kandahar, Balkh, Nangarhar, Kabul, Daikundi and some other parts of the country.
