Afghanistan finishes 5th in Central Asia Wrestling C’ship

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan secured fifth position in the 13^th edition of the Central Asia Wrestling Championship in Iran by clinching two bronze medals, Iranian media said on Monday.

The competitions in Tehran, the nation’s capital, ended last night, with Uzbekistan emerging champions..

Uzbek wrestlers bagged five gold, one silver and one bronze medals and Iranians won one gold, five silver and one bronze, ending up runners-up.

Tajikistan team bagged one gold, one silver and three bronze medals and secured third position and Turkmenistan with six bronze came forth.

The 13^th edition of the Kourosh Asian Championship hosted by Iran featured more than 200 athletes, referees and coaches from 20 countries.

Pajhwok tried to contact n Afghanistan’s National Olympic Committee (ANOC) officials for comment, but they refused.
