GARDEZ (Pajhwok): A woman has died from Congo virus in the Chamkani district of southeastern Paktia province, an official said on Thursday.
Public Health Director Mawlavi Khair Mohammad told Pajhwok Afghan News that a 25-year-old lady had died from the Congo virus in the Chamkani district.
He said: “Congo is a dangerous disease, we made all preparations but so far only one life is unfortunately lost.”
Yousuf Khan, one of the physicians, said the public should use special kites, masks and gloves while slaughtering animals to ensure protection against the Congo virus.
Congo fever is a common disease between animals and humans that is transmitted to humans through tick bites, eating undercooked meat, or contact with infected animals.
According to the Public Health Ministry, 203 persons have been infected by Congo this year so far out of which six people had died.
