PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Flood-affected people in the Dushi district of northern Baghlan province did not have access to clean drinking water and had been facing serious issues in this regard.
Recent flash floods inflicted heavy human and material losses on Baghlan residents, including the residents of the Dahn-i-Larghab locality of the Dushi district.
Arbab Abdul Sammad, a resident, told Pajhwok Afghan News their drinking water wells were filled with flash flood water.
“Now we don’t have clean drinking water, we drink river water and we could become sick,” he said.
He said resident travel at least two kilometres to bring one a container of water.
Mohammad Alam, another resident talked about similar issue and said four children of his neighbor got sick due to the contaminated water drinking.
Some other residents expressed similar issues and asked the government and aid providing orgnaisations to address their drinking water issue.
Mullah Alam Majidi, the provincial government spokesperson, said that water tankers supplied water to some areas even now.
He said four wells approved for the Dahni Larkhab area of Dushi district which would be dug soon.
It is pertinent to mention that 169 people had been killed and 265 others injured due to flash floods in Baghlan province recently.
