CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): The body of a 25-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy have been recovered from the Ghorband River in central Parwan province, an official said on Sunday.
Police Spokesman Fazal Rahim Miskinyar told Pajhwok Afghan News, originally from southeastern Ghazni province, the victim of the first incident Abdul Waris 25, was on a recreational trip in Parwan province.
Miskinyar said: “Waris wanted to rescue another minor who had been fighting for his life in the water but did not know that he would meet the same fate. The minor was washing carpets along with his family members on the river side before being drowned.”
He said, the body of the victim was recovered in Tutumdara Ulia today morning.
The minor who Waris wanted to rescue him, was later rescued by local people from the river, he added.
Separately, another 12 years old boy died of drowning in the same river. The victim was identified as Abdul Musawer from Sofi Khel village of Shinwar district.
After being recovered from the river, the bodies of both of the victims were taken to local hospital and then handed over to their heirs.
Before this last Friday, another man lost his life while he was swimming in the river in Sayyad area of central Kapisa province.
