KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Minister for Commerce and Industries Nooruddin Azizi during a meeting with Uzbekistan Transport Minister Ilham Makhkov stressed progress on the Trans-Afghan Connectivity project and talked about Tashkant’s support for Afghanistan’s agriculture sector, a statement said on Friday.
The two sides also discussed other vital connectivity projects and said that Afghanistan was the central point connecting South and Central Asia.
Azizi said that trade growth was linked to well-equipped, easy and cheap transit routes, and Central Asian countries can access South Asian markets through Afghanistan.
He insisted on the implementation and completion of the Afghan Transport Project and requested Uzbekistan to invest in land and air transport in Afghanistan.
Discussions also included plans to establish transport services for passengers between Mazar and Tarmez, and to develop a corridor connecting #China, #Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan.
Additionally, Minister Azizi discussed with Minister Rahmonov the enhancement of Afghanistan’s agricultural mechanization and technology transfer initiatives within the agricultural sector.
