Indian sugar, fuel & gold prices up in Kabul marts

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of Indian sugar, fuel and gold increased during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Fuel prices up

A worker at the Ahmadyar pump station told Pajhwok Afghan News the prices of one litre of petrol went up from 60afs to 62afs and diesel form 58afs and 60afs.

Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta neighborhood, sold a kilo of the commodity for 48afs against last week’s 46afs.

Food items

Zmarai Safi, head of the Food Traders’ Association, said the rate of a 49-kilogram sack of Indian sugar surged from 2,900afs to 2,980afs.

But the prices of a 49-kilogram sack of Kazakhstani flour and a 16-liter tin of Malaysian cooking oil stayed stable at 1,500afs and 1,420afs respectively.

Also a 24-kilogarm bag of Pakistani rice was sold for 2,600afs, a kilogram of African black tea for 400afs and the same amount of Indonesian green tea for 350afs, the same rates as last week’s.

Hamid Sufizada, a retailer at Dehna-i-Bagh Market, put the retail price of a 49-kilogram bag of Kazakh flour at 1,550afs, a 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice at 2,650afs and a 49-kg sack of Indian sugar at 3,030afs.

A 16-litre bottle of cooking oil accounted for 1,470afs, one kilogram of black tea for 400afs and the same quantity of green tea for 450afs, he added.

Gold prices up

Mohammad Fawad, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold went up from 4,350afs to 4,400afs and the same amount of the Russian variety from 3,450afs to 3,500afs.

Afghani vs dollar

Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchange Service, said one US dollar was traded at 71.20afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees consumed 250afs.

Last week, one US dollar was accounted for 71afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 250afs.
